 LAGOS

Lagos is a classic example of a fast-growing city, having transformed from a small farming and fishing village in the fifteenth century to a burgeoning megacity in 2010, when its population rose to over 10 million people.

Today, the face of Lagos is changing as a result of series of transformations effected by technology and a new style of governance. With a population of about 20 million, several innovations and developmental strides have been recorded. However despite the progress made, it is assumed that we are still scratching the surface of technology as the right policy to fully unlock the ecosystem still needs to be fashioned by the actors themselves.

In all, there is a clear understanding that in order to continue the pace of progress, technology must be brought to the centre stage.

TRANSPORT & TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

Surveys & Research indicates that at least 3 of 10 years spent in Lagos is lost to traffic and an estimated $1 billion (about N160 billion) is said to be lost yearly to traffic congestion, yet Lagos population is projected to grow to 36 million by 2020. What do we do? We hereby request solutions that will drastically reduce traffic and help Lagos move forward. Have you done anything in this space?

JOB CREATION & ENTREPRENEURSHIP

About 14.6% of Lagosians are unemployed. That means about 3 million people don’t have jobs. With the daily influx of people into Lagos, this figure is rising daily and the trend will continue.

Absence of solutions will inevitably lead to a breakdown of social amenities as well as security. Got any entrepreneurial or vocational idea to share?

ENERGY, HOUSING, SECURITY & ENVIRONMENT

With the daily growing population of Lagosians, it is inevitable that the energy, housing, security & environmental infrastructure of the state will be heavily tasked. Population is rising daily and there’s food security threat in the air. Local production of food, driven by increased adoption of modern farming by a young workforce will not only drive down availability & costs but boost employment. Any idea to solve food security problem?
