BREAKOUT

 SESSIONS

FUNDING:

BEST PRACTICES

To compete in the tech space you need funding; to hire talent, pay bills, scale etc. How do you compete when better funded competitors exist in the market? Is bootstrapping still an option? Foreign VCs are beginning to fund local startups. How does this affect the future of the local tech ecosystem?

The Chinese are coming! How does the rise of Chinese startups like Opay and PalmPay, with Warchests of $50m and $40m respectively affect the industry? This session will educate Nigerian VCs about how best to approach investing in the tech space, enlighten the audience on what VCs look for when investing and point out red flags to watch out for both as a startup and a VC.

WOMEN IN

TECH

There are less women studying STEM courses or working in related fields. The tech ecosystem can look like a men-only club but there are women making major contributions in startups we all know and love. You’ll find women in software development, marketing, product management, and other roles in tech, but is the tech space the career first choice for most ladies? What unique opportunities exist for women?

This session will highlight the achievements of women in Tech and encourage female tech enthusiasts to take their places and live their dreams in the tech space.

Building

MVPs

Building an MVP is less expensive than building a full-fledged product that nobody needs or wants. Product failure can be very expensive. There are many reasons startups fail but starting with an MVP helps reduce failure as a result of a bad product. When then do we have startups building solutions looking from problems? Why don’t some startups get sufficient feedback before they build and launch?

This session will help to minimize product/startup failures.

Consumer-Centric Products,

Not Apps

Developers and techies can get carried away with using the latest and the greatest technologies, throwing buzzwords around, but all these mean little or nothing to the people going to use what is built.

Successful products are all about making life easier for consumers, reducing time, effort and money needed to get things done, and delighting the consumer, isn’t it? Is there a secret formula for great products? This session will bring understanding of how to get consumer feedback effectively and show how great features and products are consistently created.
